Renegade Switch Rods: This new line of compact switch rods from Canada-based Pieroway uses the latest carbon fiber technology to deliver rods that load easily and recover quickly. Each rod touts a pewter blank with army-green wraps, titanium guides, woven reel seat, magnetic hook keeper, and a rubberized camouflaged grip with removable bottom end.
Arriving in 1–2 months, these rods are all 4-pieces and cover line weights #3–9 in lengths from 8'6"–12'0". Prices range from $475–$525 which includes a sock and tube.
A very cool option offered by Pieroway are custom cork handles. There were a bunch of really impressive examples on display at their IFTD show booth that ranged from fish designs to an actual river map! These grips would be an awesome way to really set off a rod and make it stand way, way out from the crowd. To add a custom cork handle to a fly rod, expect to pay about $100 extra on top of the actual cost of the rod.
Also on display were the various patterns made by Aqua Flies. From nymphs to tube flies, they offer patterns that are tied with top-quality materials on sharp Gamakatsu hooks. These flies were so impressive that Aqua Flies took home the Best of Show Freshwater Fly Pattern award for the "Stu's PrawnTruder" fly!
