IFTD 2018: New R.L. Winston PURE and Saltwater AIR Fly Rods

Winston PURE Fly Rods: For trout anglers seeking a premium rod that's up to the task of precise, delicate presentations, Winston's new PURE series looks to deliver. These advanced Boron III rods are built with a moderate action that recovers quickly, thus allowing the angler to cast with either a tight loop for general duties, or a more open loop for those times when the softest possible presentation is mandatory. The slim profile blanks come equipped with chrome nanolite stripping guides, light wire snake guides, fine cork grips, and nickel silver reel seats with maple wood inserts. The series is launching with sizes ranging from 2 to 5 weight with an ultra-cool 5'9" 4-weight that I REALLY want to try! Each rod includes a beautiful graphite tube with embroidered rod sock. PURE fly rods run $850 each.

Winston Saltwater AIR fly rods: Saltwater fly anglers don't have to feel left out anymore with the introduction of this new AIR fly rod series. Utilizing their proprietary SuperSilica resin system along with Boron III material, Winston has crafted these fast action rods to produce quick recovery speeds along with ample power and durability. While Winston is well-known for their stunning green blanks, these rods sport fresh cosmetics in the form of a new stealth matte Winston green finish. Among the included features are smaller nanolite stripping guides that keep the fly line closer to the rod shaft, hard chrome titanium-colored snake guides, charcoal gray double-uplocking reel seats with engraved Winston logo, and a small fighting butt. All rods are 9-feet long, come in 6–12 weight sizes, and each rod includes a graphite tube with embroidered sock. Every Saltwater AIR fly rod carries a price tag of $975.

*Some models of both the Winston PURE and AIR fly rods will start to become available August 1st with full availability expected September 1st.
