ICAST 2016: EDGE Fly Rods

Updated: Nov 4, 2021

EDGE Fly Rods: I first previewed EDGE's advanced fly rods on TackleTour.com after last year's ICAST show. Although there's been some tweaks since first showing those particular rods, this new lineup still boasts premium components and construction all wrapped up in a wonderfully simplistic package. Needless to say, I can't wait to get one of these out on the water in the near future for a bit of testing!

Two groups of rods are offered: The moderate-action Gamma Alpha series and the fast-action Gamma Beta series. Regardless of the series, all EDGE fly rods sport high-modulus graphite, ALPS stainless steel stripping guides with zirconium inserts, Snake Brand stainless steel snake guides, and hand-sanded matte blanks.

Depending on the model, there's either 1 or 4-piece blank configurations available. Grip styles include half-wells grips with aluminum reel seats and wood inserts, as well as full-wells grips with aluminum reel seats with woven graphite inserts and fighting butts. To complete this impressive package and help protect your investment, a carbon fiber rod tube (Alpha models) or aluminum tube (Beta models) is included along with a rod sock.

EDGE fly rods are available right now in weights from 3–12 and lengths spanning from 8'0" to 10'0". Prices start at $675 and reach up to $895.
